Southwest Bakersfield HomesSouthwest Bakersfield Homes started growing in the 1950’s. Construction of homes and commercial sites continued to increase through the 1980’s.   In the mid 2000, construction declined due to the housing market crash.  In recent years, recovery of the real estate has improved.  To get to the Southwest side of Bakersfield, you will have to go west off the 99 Highway, either exiting down White Lane or  Stockdale Highway.

Southwest Bakersfield Homes didn’t exist until the 1950’s.

One of Castle and Cooke’s prestigious master planned community is Seven Oaks.  The median price of homes in Seven Oaks is currently at $550,000.  The price range for homes in that area is from the high $400,000’s to over $1.5 million. There’s a new shopping center called the Grand Island Village.  It’s one the most elegant shopping centers in the community of Seven Oaks. There’s great places to eat there, such as Wiki’s Restaurant, Dewar’s Ice Cream and Sol Y Luna Mexican Restaurant.

If the price isn’t right for you in Seven Oaks, another Southwest Bakersfield community to look into is Laurelglen.  The median price of homes in that area is currently at $260,000. It is in the center of West Ming Avenue and White Lane. There’s also Silver Creek where the median price of homes is currently at $239,000 and at Campus Park, the median price of homes is currently at $274,000.

Southwest Bakersfield Homes are Highly Desirable

There’s new construction of homes far west of White Lane, especially along Allen Road.  You’ll also find commercial and industrial buildings that have been recently established.  Nestled in the heart of the area is California State University, located west on Stockdale Highway.  If you continue west on Stockdale Highway, there’s the Shops at River Walk where you can get your shopping done at Target, Payless Shoe Store, Nordstrom Rack, TJ Max, BevMo, or Sprouts.  If you’re hungry from shopping all day, there’s plenty of dine-in restaurants such as BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery, P.F. Changs, Pizza Rev, CPK and Elephant Bar.
